Jack Oliver (born 4 January 1991) is an English weightlifter. Hailed from Sidcup, Oliver competes in the 77kg weightclass. Oliver started weightlifting in his early teens. He was originally a gymnast but discovered weightlifting by chance. He showed an aptitude for the sport and similarly developed a passion. He became England's Under 18 National Champion for the 62kg weightclass at 14 years old. He won numerous national levels championships and represented England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Oliver is also the record holder for X British records (3 Under 17 records, X Under 23 records). Oliver is an outstanding prospect for Great Britain and a possible representative in the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the London 2012 Olympics.

Oliver trains at Europa Weightlifting Club in Erith where he lifts alongside national weightlifters like Zoe Smithand Joe Muskett.

Education and Early Life[edit]

As at April 2011, Oliver is studying the classics in University of Leeds. Prior to his undergraduate studies, Oliver attended Eltham College, an independent school in Mottingham, London.

Sporting Career[edit]

Oliver sustains a back injury in X. Despite the injury, Oliver competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and finished 8th with a commendable total of Xkg (Snatch:xkg; Clean and Jerk:xkg), narrowly missing the podium. Oliver would have medalled if not for his back injury as he was doing Xkg during practice leading up to the competition.
