Thomas Séamus Quinn (born 13 July 1976 in Bournemouth, Hampshire, England) is an Anglo-Irish former semi-professional footballer. Since retiring he has worked first as a coach, and later as manager for Portugese club Uniao de Serra. He is currently manager of FC Halifax, who are based in Halifax, Yorkshire.

Player[edit]

Youth[edit]

As a youth, Quinn was part of the AFC Bournemouth academy. However, it was clear from an early age that he was not up to the level of football being played, and he was released without progressing to the main squad, in 1991. Although he was still a schoolboy, Dorchester Town signed him on a two-year deal.

Dorchester[edit]

At Dorchester, Quinn was part of the youth team, but did not feature heavily, again considered a backup at best. However, in 1993, he broke briefly into the first team, making five league appearences and scoring his only goal for the club. Soon after this, his contract expired, leaving him a free agent once again.

Weymouth[edit]

Signing for Weymouth, Quinn found himself being picked regularly, though mostly as a substitute. In his time at the Wessex Stadium, the midfielder managed to make sixty-five appearances, scoring eight goals over four years. By 1997, though, he was replaced by younger players who were deemed to be of a superior potential. Finding himself sidelined, he requested a transfer, and was given it six months later as he was sold to the Bournemouth 'Poppies' for £250. This would prove to be the only time he would transfer for money.

Bournemouth Poppies[edit]

Back in his home town of Bournemouth, Quinn took to the lower level that the Poppies were in well. He found himself playing regularly, much more so than at Weymouth, and was even voted as player of the season for the 2001-02 season. Quinn has since remarked that his time at the Poppies are among his fondest memories, especially as it was during an FA Trophy match that he met his now wife, Caroline. The reason he only made one-hundred and five appearances was due to problems with injury, something which is believed to have directly affected his development. In 2003 he left, bound for the sunnier climates of Portugal - his wife had grown up there as a child, and the Quinns felt 'the time was right' to leave England.

Uniao Serra[edit]

Shortly after arriving in Portugal, Quinn was accepted into the squad of the local team, Uniao Serra. He played the first sixteen games that he was available for, but did not contribute any goals. In the sixteenth match, he suffered a broken leg following a mistimed lunge. Soon after it was clear that he would not be fit enough to play again, and so he announced his playing career to be at an end, signing a coaching contract with Serra.

Managment Career[edit]

Despite being reckoned as a skilled coach, Quinn doggedly remained at Serra, returning to a career as a plumber he had dabbled with while at Weymouth and Dorchester. In his time as a coach he has became known as an excellent defensive coach, though due to the small size of the staff he was also known to coach the side's forwards and midfielders, as well.

In 2010, the board offered Quinn the now open manager's job. He readily accepted this, eager to prove himself as a first class football manager.

UD Serra[edit]

Quinn is said to have made massive changes at Serra. Signing several players, mostly veterans, he was able to secure the Second Division - Central title with an unbeaten run, only losing the Taca De Portugal to Academica. Quinn felt, however, that he could not take the club any further and resigned after securing promotion.

FC Halifax[edit]

Quinn has since joined FC Halifax and has already made many signings, including former Arsenal player George Brislen-Hall
