eBOARD is a cloud based e-governance tool developed by eBOARDsolutions, a subsidiary of the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) based in Lawrenceville, GA. eBOARD is considered SAAS (software as a service) because access to the tools is via subscription. There are currently six interconnected modules available for eBOARD.
The cornerstone component of the software is the strategic plan module which is designed for developing, monitoring, updating and reporting on strategic plans. This module includes many areas including places to post the organization's mission statement, vision and beliefes, its SWOT analysis, the organization's balanced scorecard as well a strategic dashboard. Items within the plan such as initiatives and action steps can be tied to meeting agendas, policies. Users can filter the master plan by areas such department, responsible person, status or due date in order see the items that they need to update.
The meetings module is for creating paperless agenda packets which can be accessed via the web. An app for the Apple iPad was released in December 2010. Users can take personal notes for agenda items using either the browser-based application or the app. The software can manage multiple types of meetings including internal and public meetings. The software also includes an electronic minutes and votes recording capability.
There are also modules to manage online policies, communications (such as news and calendars) and documents.
The latest module was released in the fall of 2010 and was designed to help manage leadership evaluations. The main focus is on school board self-assessments, superintendent evaluations and preparing for district accreditation. The items in these evaluation can be linked back to meeting agenda items, policies and performance measures from a strategic plan.
All of the data placed in eBOARD is searchable by keyword including attachments.
The market for this product is primarily K-12 Education. While it was originally created to support the key work of school boards[1], it is now used by various groups inside education institutions at both the district and school level.
eBOARD was named as one of District Administration Magazine's top 100 products of 2010.[2]
