The Great Explainer is an American punk/post-hardcore band based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Asbury Park, New Jersey. The current line-up is Sean Bystrzycki on guitar and vocals, Nick Rosica on bass, Brian Manser on guitar and Zach Miller on drums.

History[edit]

The Great Explainer was formed in 2008[3] by Sean Bystrzycki and Nick Rosica, along with original members Matt Vaneekhoven on guitar and vocals and Greg Karlowistch on drums.[4]

In 2010[5], the group its first EP, entitled "The Way Things Swell" on Chunksaah Records[6][7][8] It was recorded[9], produced and mixed by Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls[10]

In 2011, Greg joined Luther and was replaced by Zach Miller on drums. In 2012, Matt left the band and was replaced by Brian Manser on guitar.[11]

In 2010[12], 2011[13] and 2012,[14] the group performed at The Fest[15] in Gainesville, Florida

In 2013, it was announced that the band's debut full length, Medicine Shield will be available through Panic State Records early 2014.[16]
