  • Chiang Kai Shek resided periodically in Japan before the outbreak of World War II. He had graduated from the Japanese Military Academy, maintained contact with the "Black Dragon Society" and other local political groupings in Tokyo and Kobe for a certain period.
  • Agnes Smedley had resided in Japan for some time.
