We still have a problem with fancruft. Let's face it; do pages like List of The Loud House (franchise) characters really help to build an encyclopedia? These kinds of pages often attract poor-quality edits (at least by en.wp standards), so much so that there are specialized cleanup templates for them. But still, a listing of every single Loud House character is still part of the Wikimedia mission of "all human knowledge", no matter whether or not it actually belongs in an encyclopedia.
My proposal: create a new Wikimedia project, devoted solely to pop-culture trivia. Some people may say that's too trivial for a serious Wikimedia project, but come on; we're perfectly fine with having a travel guide.
TVTropes and Fanlore don't really cut it; they both use CC-NC licenses that are fundamentally incompatible with the Wikimedia movement (which is CC-BY-SA, no NC, by nature). If we can have an encyclopedia, a dictionary, a quotation book, a travel guide, and dozens of others, then we have room on our bookshelf for a trivia book.
