Solitude Is Bliss is a Thai alternative rock band formed in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2013. Currently signed to Minimal Records, the band originated as a university project before evolving into a professional music group.

History

Since their university days, the musical group Solitude is Bliss has maintained a consistent association with Minimal Records in 2013. Originally formed under the name Thongkwao, the band underwent a stylistic and compositional shift, ultimately evolving into Solitude is Bliss, a band dedicated to alternative rock.

The band's name itself draws inspiration from a song by Tame Impala, signifying "solitude as the ultimate form of happiness." This concept reflects a desire for freedom from the complexities and chaos inherent in society.

Solitude is Bliss' songwriting encompasses a diverse range of themes, including love, interpersonal relationships, social class structures, and even political commentary. Their music, though genre-bending, resonates with listeners due to its unique ability to utilize storytelling to reflect contemporary societal issues.

The band's debut extended play (EP), titled Montage EP, released in 2013, garnered significant attention due to its unconventional cover art featuring a young man disrobing in a forest.  This, coupled with the popularity of the song "04.00 A.M.," propelled Solitude is Bliss into the spotlight.

The 2014 Thai coup status significantly impacted the band members. This event prompted each member to publicly express their views on the situation. The experience ultimately served as a source of inspiration, influencing the band's decision to incorporate political themes into their music.

Album: นกกระจอก(2017)

The title "Luke" from the album "นกกกระจอก" (translated as "The Common Myna") was inspired by the Star Wars’s character Luke Skywalker. Thanaphon, the creator (or artist), explains that Luke Skywalker embodies the qualities of a leader who guides others towards a positive outcome, which is a central theme within the song's lyrics.
