Inceptio Technology is a Chinese multinational corporation headquartered in Shanghai, China with offices in Wuhan, China, a second R&D center in Silicon Valley, California.

Inceptio Technology's mission is to build autonomous driving technologies for trucks and to operate a nationwide autonomous Transportation-As-A- Service (TaaS) freight network. Furthermore, Inceptio Technology works seamlessly with automotive industry in pre-loading its technologies and systems into mass-produced autonomous trucks.

History

[edit]

Inceptio Technology was found in 2018 in Julian Ma.

In 2019, the company received its first autonomous driving test permit in Changsha, China.

In April, 2020, Inceptio Technology completed A-truck validation for level 3 (sometimes abbreviated as L3)[1] mass production[2]. In March, 2021, the company released the “Xuanyuan” Autonomous Driving System which is a full-stack proprietary and mass-production oriented platform. Xuanyuan’s stack uses algorithms, Ultra Long Range Sensors (ULRS), and High Precision Lateral Sensors (HPLS), to detect vehicles ahead and navigate through traffic. Lastly, Xuanyuan’s algorithms is designed to optimize fuel efficiency in automated driving heavy trucks.

In December, 2021, Inceptio Technology announced it has completed its first driverless of the Level 4 (sometimes abbreviated as L4)[1] automated truck.

In June, 2022, Inceptio announced that mass-produced trucks had already driven over 3 million kilometers in commercial operations. In the same month, the company received the first driverless public road test permit of L4 automated trucks in China.[3]

In October, 2022, Inceptio Technology reported their automated driving trucks have logged over 10 million kilometers of commercial operations.[4]

Finances

[edit]

Inceptio Technology is a privately held, venture capital back company. In February, 2022, it was reported that they had raised $678 millions in funds.[5].

Products

[edit]

Inceptio’s flagship product is the “Xuanyuan” Autonomous Driving System which is a full-stack proprietary and mass-production oriented platform. Xuanyuan’s stack consists of algorithms, software architecture, a computing platform, and a control-by-wire chassis. The combined stack offers Adaptive Robust Control 2.0 which provides a flexible link between the tractor unit and the trailer. A backup driver can monitor the feeds inside the cabin.

Inceptio Technology has developed an autonomous driving unit that is installed in the truck itself.[2]

Partnerships

[edit]

Inceptio has partnered with major OEMs, such as Sinotruk (Hong Kong), to produce autonomous driving trucks with its proprietary software architecture built into the trucks.[6]

Each truck is equipped with Lidar and radar as well as cameras. Inceptio has partnered with LiDAR manufacturers such as RoboSense.

Lastly, Inceptio Technology has partnered with Ambarella, an edge AI semiconductor company to install Ambarella’s CV2FS and CV2AQ edge AI systems on chip (SoCs) to power the Xuanyuan autonomous driving system.[3]
