Padiay is a Barangay of the Municipality of Sibagat, a 1st Class Municipality in the province of Agusan del Sur, Caraga Region, Philippines. The barangay is located at the northeastern tip of the town of Sibagat, and the northeastern portion of the province.[1] Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 1,627. This represented 5.34% of the total population of Sibagat.

Location[edit]

Padiay is situated at approximately 8.9604, 125.7811, in the island of Mindanao. Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at 575.8 meters or 1,889.1 feet above mean sea level.

Demographics[edit]

According to the 2015 Census, the age group with the highest population in Padiay is 5 to 9, with 207 individuals. Conversely, the age group with the lowest population is 75 to 79, with 7 individuals.

The population of Padiay fell from 2,052 in 1990 to 1,627 in 2015, a decrease of 425 people. The latest census figures in 2015 denote a positive growth rate of 0.64%, or an increase of 54 people, from the previous population of 1,573 in 2010.

Education[edit]

Padiay is hosts of Padiay National High School and Padiay Elementary School clustered under the Sibagat District II and part of the Deped Agusan del Sur Division.[2]

The barangay also hosts the Jade B. Ecleo - Aurelio National High School, established January 1, 2009, and is also part of the Dinagat Island Division.[3]
