Bookie Ball[edit]
Bookie Ball is a common party game. First invented in Pasco, Washington by students of Columbia Basin College. Since then, the game has quickly spread to northern regions of Idaho and Eastern Washington.
Setup[edit]
Bookie Ball requires at least one Ping Pong ball and a wide table to play with. Typically played on a traditional folding table. When setting up players align the table along the wall and stand 2-3 feet from the table. In competitive variations the distance is often measured and set at 2' 8" from the edge of the table. This area between the table and players is commonly referred to as "the sink"
Gameplay[edit]
Bookie Ball is played between two players, and often is watched by a third player as a referee or an arbiter. Players take turns bouncing the ball off the table and the wall then into the sink. The ball is typically kept in the playing field, being the width of the tables within the sink. Players are allowed to pivot with one foot planted similar to basketball. Players must play with one hand in their pocket at all times.
Scoring[edit]
Players will keep track of their own points. Points are given in the following instances:
- Ball bounces twice on the table
- Player fails to catch the ball before it lands in the sink
- Player sends the ball beyond the boundaries of the playing field.
In the gentleman's variation the following instances can earn points against you:
- Failing to apologize after breaking one of the rules above
- Failing to say "Thank You" when getting the ball passed to you.
- Failing to pronounce the game correctly.
