Johnny Sane is a fictional character, first dreamed up in 2004 by a staff member at a small social networking site to occupy his time while pretending to work.

Since that time, Mr. Sane has taken on a life of his own, popping up on sites such as Myspace, LiveJournal, and numerous forums across the internet. He has yet to achieve internet fame, but as he claims, "That would just get in the way of my nefarious scheming. After all, it's hard to maintain an air of mystery when everyone knows who you are."

Johnny Sane's inspirations include such fictional characters as the Mad Hatter, Tyler Durden, and Henry Rollins.
