About James[edit]

My name is James Dooms. I'm willing to bet I'm the oldest one in this class. I'm 46 years old, and I've worked in the TV production industry since 1984. I found a Wiki page on the station in Kansas City where I learned Television. Back then, the call letters were KYFC [[1]]. After a short time, I moved back home to Evansville, where I've spent most of my career. I have worked at all of the TV stations in Evansville at some point. After many years as a newscast director, I moved into advertising. I produced TV commercials with an advertising agency and for Insight Media for 6 years, and was laid off in 2009. I had started working on my Associates Degree at Ivy Tech in the fall of 2008. I had decided that after over 20 years in the TV business without a degree, I needed to get one. The following February I was unemployed, so... Fun times! After graudating from Ivy Tech, I decided to continue my education with a Bachelor's degree from USI, and this is my 2nd year. In July, I was hired as the Director of Audio Visual Instructional Services at Saint Meinrad School of Theology, so I am only taking online classes at USI for now. I have also started my own production company with my son. The company can be checked out here: http://www.doomsmedia.com if you want to see some of my work.
