Contrary to the implications of the redirect WP:NOTEWORTHY, Wikipedia should use noteworthiness as a general content-inclusion guideline.

Several content guidelines already do this—either in text or in spirit. A few use the term "notable", which editors explain by saying that they are using the term in the colloquial sense. But that usage is, at best, ill advised: notable is a term of art on Wikipedia, and new users will, justifiably, believe that its usage on a Wikipedia policy or guideline is a reference to the standards of WP:NOTABLE.

Noteworthy, on the other hand, fairly captures several well-known guidelines, including WP:INDISCRIMINATE, WP:SUMMARY, WP:MINORASPECT and WP:NOTEVERYTHING. It is also reflected in several guidelines, including MOS:TIMELINE ("Ensure that list items have the same importance to the subject as would be required for the item to be included in the text of the article ..."), WP:GAMECRUFT, and WP:GRATUITOUS.
