Tanki Online is a browser-based Massively Multiplayer action game developed and supported by AlternativaPlatform company. The game was first presented in May of 2009 at the Russian Game Developer's Conference where it received several awards, including "Best game without a publisher" and "Best technology". The game is currently in open beta testing stage, the latest release having been released on December 25th.

Gameplay[edit]

Somewhat similar to the 1985 video-game “Battle City”, which was created for the Russian game console as the “Dendy”, players command tanks, for which they can buy upgrades and bonuses with ingame currency in the form of crystals that are allocated to players, relative to the amount of points a player scores in a match. Crystals, and other bonuses, can occasionally be found on the battlefield itself. The game features several game modes - Deathmatch, Team deathmatch, and Capture the flag. Another feature is a rank system, indicating a player's skill and the upgrades they have access to, but also allowing players to organize evenly-matched battles based on the rank of the players in the game. Various aspects of matches can also be adjusted, such as imposing a time-limit or a fixed amount of frags needed to win a battle. Battles can also be restricted to allow only players with specific ranks.

Ranks and Points[edit]

The game features a rank system which gives access to new items and upgrades. Points for kills are calculated according to the player's and your enemy's ratio, in the range from 0 to 20. All in all there are 27 ranks.
