Background
[edit]Jaime Whitton was born in Birmingham, UK on the 17th September 1991. As a child, he attended Chilcote Primary School in Hall Green, Birmingham untill the age of 11 when he joined Ninestiles Technology College. Jaime then studied at Solihull College and received a BTEC National Diploma in Uniformed Public Services.
Football Career
[edit]Jaime started his footballing career in central defense for his childhood school team, Chilcote. He then went on to play Sunday League football for Crusaders F.C. U12's, playing as a centre midfielder. In Whittons first season, he scored one goal but the team went through a tough time and got relegated to Division 4.
Overall, in two seasons he scored 3 goals, varying positions between centre midfield to left midfield. After breaking his right leg on the 2nd January 2005, and a continuous hamstring problem, Whittons season was over. Crusaders managed to survive in Division 4, finishing mid-table.
Under 14's season was the turning point for Crusaders as Whitton was forced to change position again, and put his goalkeeping skills into practice. In his first season, he conceeded 35 goals and finished in third place behind Marston Green and got promoted to Division 3.
In the 2006/07 season, Whitton had shown good progress as a goalkeeper and helped them win division three by three points, losing only one game in the season and finishing as the lowest conceeding 'keeper in the league. If it wasn't for some excellent defending by Adam Wormall, a player for Marston Green in their final game against Hampton Sports, Crusaders might have finished second. Crusaders had got promoted two divisions as they would pose to much of a threat to division two. In this season, Whitton started to train with the West Bromwich Albion Academy. Whitton was also named as captain for the following season following excellent performences in the previous season.
Now as captain, Whitton was the most committed player on the team, becoming the longest serving player. Crusaders U16's had an undefeted season, winning the league for the third consecutive season. Whitton finished conceeding just 16 goals in 18 games and also scored from his own penalty area. In December 2007, Whitton had gained attention from a Birmingham City scout and also a Wolverhampton Wanderers scout. On the 8th December, Whitton had a trial with Wolverhampton Wanderers but wasn't recruited because of his height of 5'10" was considered too short. At the end of the 2007-2008 season, Whitton had also gained attention from Alvechurch F.C. and was offered a place in the Youth team.
Jaime Whitton was now playing for two teams - Crusaders U18's and Alvechurch Youth.
Crusaders are currently unbeaten still in the league. Alvechurch have had a steady start floating mid-table, just above the relegation places.
Whitton is seen as a hot prospect for the future of English football.
