The National Education Program was a conservative organization sponsored by Harding College that existed to advocate conservative economic and political viewpoints in the United States (Americanism (ideology)). It was founded by George S. Benson. When the government challenged the practice of political activity by the tax-exempt college, it was reorganized with a board of directors identical to that of the college. In addition to Bales, it was later headed by Harding's third president, Clifton L. Ganus Jr., and Bible professor James D. Bales
