Jacob H Singer
[edit]Jacob H. Singer (born November 1, 1984) is an American Industrial Designer and entrepreneur. He is the founder and principal of 3D Yes, an industrial design studio based in Portland, Oregon. Established in 2021, the goal of 3D Yes is to assist product-based businesses to design and develop innovative consumer products for manufacturing.
Passionate about design, Jacob rose from Intern to Senior Industrial Designer during a 10-year career at Design Innovation, Inc., a product design and development agency in Avon, Connecticut. While there, he worked with nationally recognized brands like Crayola, Hasbro, PetSmart, Caitec, Nala Cat, SpinMaster, and iDevices. Jacob's expertise is in mechanism development and creating cost-efficient solutions using a wide range of manufacturing processes. At 3D Yes, he follows a nine-step process with Lean Start-up principles at its core. During the product development phase he follows an iterative design process, incorporating users' feedback with the aim of achieving product market fit.

Background
[edit]Jacob grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. During his childhood, he was always trying to see how things worked, Then, he began making things. He was intrigued by figuring out how to come up with solutions. His mother, Lani H. Davison, is a planning and development professional at community health, arts, and youth organizations. Her primary client is Charter Oak Boxing Academy and Youth Development Program, Inc. (COBA), based in Hartford. His father, Merrill Singer, PhD, an Emeritus Professor at the University of Connecticut, is a widely published medical anthropologist. His sister, Elyse Ona Singer, PhD, is an assistant professor in the anthropology department at the University of Oklahoma. Jacob attended Hall High School and later transferred to and graduated from Hebron Academy in Hebron, Maine. Highly independent with an entrepreneurial spirit, Jacob launched his own landscaping company at age 19. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University. Growing up, Jacob developed an avid interest in the wilderness, especially mountain biking and whitewater kayaking. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife, Dr. Susan Blasi. Susan has been his creative partner and design critic for the last eight years.
