Marie Younkin-Waldman is an advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing community, a writer, and a former TV host from Rhode Island. She hosted the TV series "Tea with Marie" on Cox Cable statewide in Rhode Island from 1998 to 2008. Yonkin-Waldman is the author of three books.

Early life and education[edit]

Younkin-Waldman grew up in Virginia and then moved to Maplewood, New Jersey. After attending the Beard School (now Morristown-Beard School) in Orange, New Jersey, she moved to Lausanne, Switzerland during her senior year. Younkin-Waldman then studied at the American University of Paris in Paris, France.[1] She completed her bachelor's degree and her master's degree in human development at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island.

Narragansett advocacy[edit]

Youkin-Waldman has lived in Narragansett, Rhode Island since the 1970s.[2] In 2011, she founded the organization Where's the Town to establish a town center for Narragansett and host seaside fairs.[3] Two years later, the Narragansett Town Council passed a proclamation honoring the work of Yonkin-Waldman with Where's the Town?.[4]
