From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tony Loft (born 5 July 1965) known by the stagename DJ Loftgroover, is a British hardcore techno/gabber/speedcore producer and DJ. Born in Stamford Brook, London.[1]

  • "Too much niceness in the rave scene...Gabba is how I really feel - hard, angry - I've always had a bleak view of the world."[2]

"Gabba's about controlled violence, you never see fisticuffs at a gabba party."[2]

Loftgroover invented many terms such as scarecore and punkcore to describe the various subgenres within the extreme noise scene, and the word doomtrooper to describe fans of the music.[2]

Mixes metal bands like Slayer, Sepultura and Anthrax.[2]

Mention in The Economist

"Disc jockeys are not called things like Groove Rider or Loft Groover for nothing. Besides, most of the youngsters who buy dance records would consider cds the ultimate in middle-aged naffness. Dance music thrives on the word on the street.."[3]

DJ Loftgroover, reputed to play the fiercest sets of all (250 BPM and above), found himself the unwilling focus

In 1997 Loftgroover was mentioned on the front page of the Daily Star as part of the "Nazi gabber hell" supposedly menacing Britain. Loftgroover rubbished the story and pointed out "It's not got anything to do with Nazism; I'm fucking black".[4]
