Rapepublican is portmanteau of rape and Republican, and refers to congressional Republicans who voted against specific legislation created by Senator Al Franken that would allow victims of rape to file suit against employers who would normally face liability for this crime, but due to contract law, could not. [1] It's origin comes from sexual assault experienced by Jamie Leigh Jones while she was working for KBR in Iraq.

Societal Response[edit]

After the vote, a parody website, Republicans For Rape[3] appeared on the World Wide Web, shaming the senators for their nay vote on the Franken amendment.
