Yellowknife's log schoolhouse is a heritage structure in Yellowknife. The 16 feet (4.9 m) by 16 feet (4.9 m) log cabin was built to serve as a bunkhouse, in 1937. It was made available to serve as a schoolhouse in 1939. Mildred Hall, the first teacher, had to teach her students in two shifts, as the structure was just too small to seat them all at once. In February, 1940, the new school board budgeted $4,500 for a purpose built schoolhouse, and the log schoolhouse was retired when it was completed in November 1940.
