Ron Brown is a Canadian writer and broadcaster. His first book, "Ghost towns of Ontario" was sufficiently popular his publisher encouraged him to write a book on other kinds of places readers could visit, which was eventually published as "Top 50 Unusual Things to See in Ontario.[1] This book was sufficiently popular that Brown has published updated editions, describing additional places to visit, with the fifth update scheduled for publication in 2019, entitled "Top 50 Unusual Things to See in Ontario."

Brown has authored over 20 books, and contributes to CBC Radio broadcasts.

His works include In Search of the Grand Trunk, and Other Ghost Rail Lines in Ontario, From Queenston to Kingston: The Hidden Heritage of Lake Ontario's Shoreline, Top 100 Unusual Things to See in Ontario, and Behind Bars: Inside Ontario's Heritage Gaols.[2]

In August 2012, The Northlander, the last regularly scheduled passenger train to Northern Ontario was shut down.[3] The Toronto Star published Brown's account of riding the last train.
