Attia's Rule[edit]

Proposed by Dr. Andrew Huberman, interviewing Dr. Peter Attia, (7 May, 2024, Huberman Lab Podcast)

Attia's Rule: "You aren't allowed to talk about diet and supplements until you are in the top levels of strength fitness - and VO2 max at 75th percentile"

This is a set of longevity proxies, for centenarians living at elite levels, characterized by reducing all cause mortality - boiled down to generalized strength (Strength Metric Assessments)

Notable talking points:

  1. Strength/grip strength - general relative high muscle mass vs population in general
  2. Deadlift - body weight farmer-carry for 2 minutes man. Women 75% bodyweight for 2 minutes
  3. Dead hang - 1-1/2 minutes 40 year old woman, 2 minutes 40 year old man
  4. Air squat at 90 degrees for 2 minutes for both man and woman at age 40
  5. Cardio respiratory fitness - VO2 fitnessReferences:
