Episodes[edit]

Pilot[edit]

In the small town of Ipswich, twins Mia and Derek Carpenter just recently moved into town and must come to grips of the fact that their father Byron had just died from a tragic incident and are only now both looked after by their mother, Lydia. Mia becomes emotionally withdrawn from hiding her grief, while Derek turns to rebelling to avoid dealing with his own feelings. Nothing goes as planned for both of them during their first day at school when mysterious student, Luke Bishop attracts Mia's attention, leaving school jock Adam jealous and popular girl Chloe curious of the "new girl". Ipswich residents, Tish Ramirez suspects something off about the twins as does school quarterback and Adam's teammate Gavin Hastings. After Adam's on and off girlfriend Peyton is mysteriously missing, it is then revealed to Mia and Derek that Luke, Tish and Gavin are all part of a coven ascended from the original founders of Ipswich. It is also discovered that the siblings are also Ascendants from their father's bloodline and that also Upbringers are in town to finish the lineage once and for all now that a pentagram is complete. Luke's unlikely uncle William enters the picture; suddenly returning to Ipswich after fifteen years.

Bloodlines[edit]

William's arrival causes mysterious things to start happening in town including two students dead, while Luke saves Mia from potentially being the third casualty. Luke then brings Mia with him to a near outskirt from town to see Thea, a previous Ascendant and an old flame of William's, hopping she could help unlock Mia and Derek's lineage of Ascendants. It is then revealed that Thea was compelled by the Upbringers to help them locate the five where an Upbringer named Keith arrives in the cabin. Luke yet again saves Mia, though killing Thea in the process enabling Keith to escape - where Thea tells them that the answers are all in William's grimoire and that she wants Luke to tell William that she was sorry. Back in Ipswich, both Tish and Gavin open up to a reluctant Derek in an attempt to help him cope with his newfound identity. Meanwhile, Chloe meets Alice, a middle-aged woman who seems to know the true past of Ipswich though revealing later that she too is an Upbringer when she meets up with Keith. When Mia and Luke return telling William of what had really happened, William reveals to them that he saved Thea once before from a Mourning ritual, although Thea left him with the Upbringers in the Faire Harbor fire (also stated as the 'Faire Harbor Massacre') though managing to come out alive in the end. Refusing to give up the grimoire still, William also reveals that Mia and Derek's dad Byron was adopted, but presumably knows nothing more about his parentage. Later on that night, Luke claims his feelings towards Mia where the two kiss. Also, as Adam sits at the bar alone contemplating about Peyton, William sits with him introducing himself showing a much surprising smirk in his face

Maude[edit]

Peyton returns to school and surprises Adam with her new cynical and coming attitude towards him where he asks him to befriend the "new girl" Mia; although Adam's indifference toward Mia and Luke being the new 'it' couple causes him to deny her request, it appears that Peyton is desperate and even enlists the help of Chloe to have herself meet and supposedly get-to-know the new girl. When Mia and Peyton finally meet during the school's Game Night with Luke, Chloe and her date Julian - presumably to support Adam and Gavin on their game - Peyton starts questioning Mia about her and her family, where Mia reverts most of them although stating of having a twin brother with her named Derek. Upon learning about Derek, Peyton then tells something to Julian during the near half time of the game where it soon shows Julian calling Keith telling him about another Ascendant. It soon becomes apparent that both Peyton and Julian are both compelled and working for the Upbringers. During the half time show of the game, Peyton follows Mia where she corners her in the equipment room - intimidating her that if she doesn't let the Upbringers get what they want, then people they love will start dying. She then pulls out a knife and stabs herself in the stomach which in turn sends out a proof of the Upbringers' intentions, with Adam witnessing the scene, although Luke managed to arrive in time to cast him to forget what he saw. Keith later kidnaps Derek in the bar, where he calls Luke to give him the Bishop grimoire; as revealed later that Alice needs it for the Mourning ritual. William surprisingly offers to give the book to them to save Derek; where it is also revealed that the grimoire was cast by William to be only decoded and understood by a paternal Bishop bloodline. While Tish saves Derek in an abandoned warehouse, Mia hands the grimoire to Alice. She reveals that Byron's mother was named Maude Bennett and that The Five must be killed in order to restore balance - though the Uprbingers only know of Mia, Luke, Derek and Gavin, as Tish didn't show herself to them yet. Enraged, Luke ensues a fight, where William easily breaks Julian's neck and Gavin kills Keith with the help from Luke. Before escaping though, Alice tells William - apparently knowing each other - that she "doesn't want this life for them." In the end, Adam sees William again telling him that Peyton 'suddenly' died from blood loss, where William cast Adam to tap into his memory, enabling him to remember what had happened. Seeing that he's caught up by the happenings around town, William offers Adam an allegiance in order for him to know the truth, where Adam vaguely accepts.
