Downface is an American post-grunge band that formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1997.

Biography[edit]

Downface formed in February 1997, after one of the members placed an ad in a local Madison record store. All band members had similar taste in music; grunge, such as Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam, and some newer heavy metal bands, such as Tool, allowing for good chemistry and similar artistic direction. After familiarizing themselves with several covers as well as writing their own material, they went into recording. In May 1998, they went into Capitol Studios in Milwaukee, where they began recording their debut album, Confidence and four years later, in 2002, album Within.

Downface wrote and recorded "Alone" in 1997. Many years later and today people mistake this song to belong to Alice In Chain/Pearl Jam/Chris Cornell.

It was actually no mistake, Eddie Vedder, Layne Staley and Maynard Keenan all performed together to make the albums.
