(1) [1] Rebirth is the season premiere of the television series Futurama. It will be televised in the summer of 2010 (request notation). The creators of the show gave a 3-minute sneak peek of the storyboard animatic in late 2009 (request notation).
Plot
[edit]The premiere begins a few weeks after the end of the last Futurama movie, Into the Wild Green Yonder. Proffesor Farnsworth tells a severely burned and amnesiatic Fry of what happened. The Planet Express crew were being chased by Zapp Brannigan into a wormhole, possibly to another universe. Instead, the wormhole transports them directly to Earth. (It turned out to be the Panama wormhole, a major shipping wormhole to Earth.) The Nimbus follows them and shoots out the engines. Proffesor Farnsworth activates miniature force fields around himself and the heads of the rest of the crew. They then crash to Earth. His explanation finished, Proffesor Farnsworth shows Fry the rest of the crew: reduced to lifeless heads attached to skeletons. It remains unclear as to how Fry escaped with only a few burns.
