Eliane Delage[edit]

Eliane Delage is a brazilian musician and a composer living in NYC. She was born in São Paulo, Brasil, March 8th, 1969. She began learning the guitar at age 10 through the Ilse Raimann Conservatory.

At the age 14 she joined a rock band in high school and delivered an amazing stage performance and guitar solo winning 1st place at a local YMCA battle of the bands playing the hysterical "Érika Histérika" , where she met Rubens de Mello and together formed the band "Fênix", that later turned into "Idola Tribus", having produced "Ídolos da Tribo", "Perto do Sol" e "Sutil Verdade" in the studio, the band was featured in "Radio Amador", a radio show hosted by Rita Lee that promoted new bands in the late 80's in São Paulo.

She attended the Guitar Institute and Technology (I,G&T) in Sao Paulo, Brasil, graduating in 1989.

Eliane worked as a touring guitarist in Brasil for Eliane Costa, Erica Miglio, Paulo Carrilho amongst others. They performed at SESC Pompeia in São Paulo as well as in Santa Catarina and Porto Seguro, BA. Delage lived in Porto Seguro, Bahia, where she performed at the main stage at a street Carnaval em 1993 to 20,000 people with Cíntia Mayer and Axé Odara band.

NYC[edit]

Eliane moves to NYC in 1993 to pursue her dreams of playing music.

She moved to New York in November of 1993 and through an ad in the Village Voice met Venus Smith, who was forming the band "Above and Beyond", the band included Heather Leigh West, Gary Fritz, Pierre, Kenji and Simba. Eliane performed with "A&B" at several Manhattan clubs during 94 and 95. She also played brazilian music with Carla Moreno in NYC's "Boca Chica".

In 1995 Meco Filho went to NYC to record songs with Eliane at the IAR (Institute of Audio Research) led by Gary Fritz.

California[edit]

In the summer of 1996, Delage moved to Los Angeles, California, and met Wade Barrett with whom she worked collaborating in songs and forming the band "Wade". They played many clubs in LA and recorded several tunes in the studio. The band had Jeff Seitz on drums, Alby Dunbar on bass, Eliane Delage on guitar and Wade Barrett singing and playing the acoustic guitar.

In 2003, Eliane studied Audio Recording at the --Delage (talk) 03:18, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Musician's Institute (MI) in Hollywood, CA.

She worked in film and commercial spots post as a sound editor in Hollywood and also placed her works as a composer.

Eliane and Wade won a songwriting contest at MI with the song "Go Smoking", a satire on the tobacco industry.

Teaching in NYC[edit]


In 2007 Eliane returns to NYC and starts teaching guitar at NYC Guitar School where she developed curriculum and content for classes such as

Happy Hour Guitar and Ensemble[edit]

In 2011, Eliane Delage launched Happy Hour Guitar, a guided jam for beginner and intermediate players in NYC.


In the interest of offering guitar players an opportunity to join an ensemble, Eliane founded 'Eliane Delage Guitar Ensemble (EDGE) in 2013.

2012 Recording in São Paulo[edit]

Eliane Delage and Meco Filho[edit]

Eliane and Meco first met in the streets of São Paulo in 1985 while pursuing similar dreams, they immediately connected musically and wrote countless songs in a variety of styles including rock, balladas, pop, MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) and reggae. Their songs carry a positive outlook on love and life. Meco and Eliane recorded original songs at IAR (Institute of Audio & Research) in NYC. In 1998, toured a pocket show around Los Angeles area in Southern California and kept collaborating through the years. In November of 2012 Eliane and Meco recorded the album "Romance Selvagem" in São Paulo, produced by Daniel Bondaczuk and released by Barbara Brasil. Meco sings all the 11 songs written by Eliane. Eliane is also playing all the guitars, bass, drums and percussion on the record. Meco Filho is also an accomplished writer in Brasil with over 50 books published. In 2012 Eliane went to São Paulo to record a full studio album with Meco Filho. They have recorded 11 songs with the participation of various musicians. The recording was engineered by Daniel Bondaczuk at Parede Meia Studios and additional string sessions at Na Cena Studios. The record is currently being distributed by Reveller Records in NYC.

Eliane Delage Project[edit]

Eliane Delage Project brings together all female musicians displaying their talent and musicianship in live performance. Described as cinematic fusion, Eliane's original compositions make for a landscape of instrumental beauty in addition to jazz funk renditions of the best of instrumental world music. This project performs Eliane Delage's instrumental compositions. Started in 2014, it features Eliane Delage (guitar), Jessica Ackerley (guitar), Sky Dietrich (bass), Claudia Coste (drums) and Kiho Yukata (violin)
