Alan Harold Feld is an Israeli-Canadian venture capitalist. Feld is the Co-Founder of Vintage Investment Partners where he is currently the Managing Partner, and the founder of the Israel Diversity Initiative promoting more diversity in the Israel Hi-tech industry. Alan was ranked as one of the top 25 people with the greatest influence in the Israeli economy[1], and speaks frequently across the world discussing technology trends and venture capital .

Early History

Alan was born to Dr. Ronald Feld and Judy Feld Carr in Toronto, Canada in 1961. Feld's father, a family physician and human rights advocate, died of a heart attack when Feld was 11. Feld's mother, a musicologist, remarried 4 years later to Donald Carr, QC , a nationally recognized lawyer and community leader. Judy was one of the first six recipients of The Presidential Award of Distinction of the State of Israel based on her efforts saving 3,228 Syrian Jews , and Donald has served on numerous boards leading the Canadian Jewish community and as the Chairman of the Canadian Jewish News.

Education

Alan received an MBA from York University in Toronto and an L.L.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto in 1987. He received a B.A. in Commerce and Finance from the University of Toronto in 1983 with Distinction. He was the winner of the Fred Friedlander award for commerce and finance.

Career

Prior to founding Vintage in 2002, Alan Feld was a general partner at Israel Seed Partners and at Vertex Ventures . Prior to Vertex, Alan was the Managing Director of Evergreen Capital Markets/Robertson Stephens Israel.

Alan moved to Israel in 1994, but previously Alan served at Goodman’s (Toronto), one of Canada’s leading corporate law firms, after qualifying for the Ontario Bar in 1987.

He sits on the board of Behalf , was a board member of Wilocity (sold to Qualcomm for $360m in 2014 ) and is an observer on the boards of Yotpo , and Kaminario .

Philanthropic Activity

Alan has been involved in spearheading many philanthropic activities. Feld founded and is Chairman of the Power In Diversity Israel, a project to increase the number of women and minority groups in the Israeli Hitech Industry. Managed by Dr. Galit Desheh, today over 130 Israeli startups and over 30 venture funds are part of the initiative.

Alan was Founding Chairman of StartUp Jerusalem , a non-profit organization run by Israeli and Palestinian businesspeople helping to foster job growth in Jerusalem. He served as Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Be’eri project, an initiative of the Hartman Institute , and is also a former board member of the Israel Democracy Institute and the Jewish Funders Network (US).

Alan also served as Associate Chairman of the Canadian Jewish Congress , President of the North American Jewish Students Network and a board member of the Canada Israel Committee and Kolot (Jerusalem), a pluralistic adult Jewish education program.
