Dorian Hindmarsh , BEng PhD,(born Dorian Stonier Hindmarsh) October 1976 in industrial Northern UK town of Consett, Co Durham.

Dorian is currently a company director for Clean Technology company AgroPlas UK Ltd. Agroplas UK Ltd is a part owned company of parent Norwegian company, AgroPlas ASA set up in 2009.

Early Life[edit]

Hindmarsh was born in Shotley Bridge Hospital part of the heavily industrialised town of Consett. He attended the local rural primary school of Westwood County through the early 80's and went on to attend mainstream education at Benfieldside Secondary and Blackfyne Secondary Schools. Whilst at school Hindmarsh took up the Violin, where he played in both School orchestras and the Derwentside District orchestra. His interest in music playing was short lived and attention turned to industry. Hindmarsh followed an interest in Electronics and carried out a Diploma in Electronics and Electrical Engineering at New College Durham. as well as taking extra evening classes and industrial courses to make up for a poorer school education. During his time in Durham, Hindmarsh worked in industry mainly factory work to supplement his income, and gained an experience and appreciation for manufacturing.

Hindmarsh attended the University of East Anglia (UEA) in 1996, to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering, a 4 year degree offered at the time. In 1998 Hindmarsh was convinced by Dr Donard de Cogan to change direction in the degree program to look at Numerical Modelling as an engineering solution to vehicle exhaust systems, as direction more suited to his interests. In 2000 he graduated, and was promptly sponsored to carry out a Ph.D. by sports car manufacturer, Lotus cars in Norfolk. This was to develop a Numerical Modelling tool to be applied to CAD software for new vehicle development. After completing the PhD in 2003, Hindmarsh left Lotus and went into Business to Business IT support.

Profession[edit]

Hindmarsh was responsible for a Motorsports sponsorship and promotion company which he founded in 2003. 'DSH Promotions' was responsible for managing and finding sponsorship for Ruth Senior and the racing team. Ruth, a young up and coming racing driver, started out in the junior ‘T’ car series, after 2 years, Ruth progressed into the national Formula Ford championships. Hindmarsh moved away from motorsports management in 2007 and took up a position in the Hethel Engineering Centre, the UK’s Eastern Region’s support centre for Innovation and Engineering. Hindmarsh became the regional Business Development Manager, providing advice on business planning, supply chain development, routes to funding for innovation, and general advice and direction. Whilst there Hindmarsh instigated several novel and proven tools to the public sector support centre including the setting up of the regionally acclaimed Exhibition of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, (EAME) which became an annual event drawing 1500 business yearly to the centre. Pilot Innovation Projects, bringing together like minded business to take advantage of market failure by applying experiences gained in alternate sectors. E.g. automotive supply chains working with Energy sector. The most prominent success being EWEG, a supply chain group to supply to the offshore wind industry, working with Westminster directly this project led the Eastern region’s attraction statement to OEM’s in the wind segment. In 2011 Hindmarsh left the Hethel Engineering Centre to become Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Norwegian Plasma technology company GasPlas AS. After implementing a range processes and management tools, he was asked to take up the role of CEO for the overarching marketing and technical exploitation company AgroPlas ASA based in Oslo, Norway. Building the technical delivery team and business model to apply and sell Vortair and GasPlas technologies, he is now Director of AgroPlas Uk Ltd, based in the UK and proving the technologies to selected markets.

Novelty[edit]

Hindmarsh, working under the pseudonym Dozzablue1, is also famous across the globe for his hobby of building miniature agricultural and mechanical plant, specialising in 1:16 scale functioning excavators. This interest has generated an international following as his models are filmed in small films and posted on the public video web site Youtube.
