Purr ‘N’ Tell – The Show About Cats TM
Purr ‘N’ Tell – The Show About Cats is a cable television series that seeks to educate, as well as entertain viewers about cat care and health. Produced by Geri Timon since 2003 at the 4 Village Studios (“4VS”) in Floral Park, New York, Purr ‘N’ Tell is presented as a ½ hour commercial-free program. The show is hosted by Geri’s husband, Kim Timon, along with co-host Douglas, their live domestic shorthaired cat.
Guests typically include veterinarians, breeders, animal rescues and shelters. Notable guests have included Arden Moore, a nationally recognized dog and cat expert as well as an author of over 17 dog and cat care books. PETCO Foundation’s David Seely also spoke about the Foundation’s program to partner with local animal groups across the United States to enhance the lives of companion animals.
Presentations include information from Catnip Newsletter published by Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and video clips provided by the Cornell Feline Health Center of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2008, Purr ‘N’ Tell obtained the rights to show episodes of the award winning British animated cartoon series, Henry’s Cat.
Episodes of Purr ‘N’ Tell are initially carried on 4VS, the local government-access channel, over transmission facilities provided by Cablevision of Long Island and Verizon FIOS. The episodes are subsequently transmitted on public-access channels of Cablevision throughout New York State’s Nassau County and western Suffolk County. Purr ‘N’ Tell is also shown in parts of New York City over Time Warner Cable’s public-access channel, Manhattan Neighborhood Network. While actual cable subscriber totals for all three counties are difficult to establish, the potential viewer base is estimated at about 2 million cable subscribers.
