Dominic Monkhouse[edit]

Dominic Monkhouse, born March 27, 1967 in Newcastle upon Tyne, is the founder and managing director of Monkhouse and Company Limited[1] and host of The Melting Pot podcast[2].

Education[edit]

Monkhouse received a degree in BSC in Agricultural and Food Marketing from the Newcastle University in 1988. Later completing his MBA from Sheffield Business School at Sheffield Hallam University in 1996.

Career[edit]

Rackspace[edit]

In 2001, Dominic Monkhouse left his role as managing director of Interliant UK to join Rackspace Limited as EMEA managing director. Dominic spent five years at Rackspace during which time the organisation scaled from zero to £26M a year in annual revenue and coined the famous strapline: “Fanatical Support®”.

IT Lab[edit]

Monkhouse joined IT Lab as managing director of the UK office in 2006 to save them from bankruptcy. They were acquired by ECI Partner in 2016, for an estimated £65m[3]. He left in 2008.

Peer 1 Hosting[edit]

In April 2009, Dominic Monkhouse was appointed EMEA managing director of Peer 1 Hosting[4]. Within 5 years the organisation launched and scaled to £30m in the United Kingdom, and from CAD$90m to CAD$200m globally. In 2013, Peer 1 Hosting was sold to Cogeco Cable for CAD$635m[5]. Dominic resigned in May 2014.

Business Coaching[edit]

Since resigning from Peer 1 Hosting in 2014, Dominic has been a business coach for leaders at high-growth technology companies. He is a certified Scaling Up business coach[6] (formerly know as Gazelles), and a certified 3HAG business coach[7].

Writing[edit]

In June, 2020 he self-published F**k Plan B: How to scale your technology business faster and achieve Plan A[8][9]. In the book, he outlined his 10-steps for scaling any business: Talent, Purpose, Values, Principles, Engagement, Candour, Meetings, Rhythm, Structure and Environment.

He co-authored Business Gurus by Crimson Business and Business Success by Service Excellence by Moira Clark.
