User:Giggy/accountcreator proposal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The accountcreator usergroup, is a usergroup that allows a user to bypass MediaWiki account creation throttles, as Bots and Administrators can. Otherwise a user may only create 6 accounts per day from the same IP. Due to the nature of this usergroup, it should only be given out to users that are interested in participating in the account request process.

This usergroup can be assigned and unassigned by any user in the Administrators usergroup.

Acquiring the right

[edit]

The accountcreator right can be given to a user by an administrator via Special:Userrights. Any user may request the right by contacting an administrator, and the right should be granted based on the following criteria (though exceptions may apply);

  • The requester has been active in the accounts creation process (use logs to check).
  • The user is in relative good standing.
  • The user has not had the right removed in the past (see next section).

Removal of the right

[edit]

The right can be removed as easily as it is granted, via the same page, by any administrator. It should be removed in cases of clear abuse, including, but not limited to;

  • Creating accounts which are clear violations of the username policy.
  • Using the right to create sockpuppets or in other ways act against policy.

If the right has been removed from a user, a discussion should take place at Wikipedia talk:Request an account before the right is re-granted.
