The Uruguayan Liga Metropolitana Amateur is the fourth division in the Uruguayan football league system.

Historically occuppied by the Divisionales Extras first, then the Primera "D", the idea to refloat a fourth league in Uruguay's league piramid was brought up by 2020, then led to fruition in 2021 by the Uruguayan Football Association.

Inaugural Season[edit]

The league is planned to be drawn out no later than January 2022 and it won't involve promotion, in experimental fashion. It is initially planned to have one promotion spot for the Uruguayan Primera División Amateur by the 2022-23 season.[1]

Participating Teams[edit]

According to the same Uruguayan Football Association, only teams that are no further than 40 kilometres away from Montevideo (those in the Montevideo metropolitan area, thus the league's name) are allowed to participate, along with an entry fee of US$5000, among other dispositions, such as proven representativity of a community or neighbourhood and possession of a field, rented or own.[2]

No official confirmation of the league's setup has been made by the Uruguayan Football Association yet, but all of the following teams have declared their interest and presented the required documentation to take part in the league's first season[3]:

  • Club Atlético Cinco Esquinas de Pando
  • Club Social y Deportivo Cooper
  • Deutscher Fussbal Klub
  • Club Social y Deportivo Keguay
  • Hacele un Gol a la Vida
  • Club Social y Deportivo Paso de la Arena
  • Rincón de Carrasco
  • Club Atlético Unión de San José

The inital plans depicted a single-round league format, with every team facing each other once. However, the league's starting date was planned for early November 2021, ending by December, which has not happened.[4]
