Chris Diaz is an African marketing leader, branding Kenya and Africa to the world. [1] He is the Marketing Director of Kenya Airways.He has worked previously at Bidco Africa as the Marketing Director, and still sits on the board of Bidco Africa as a non-executie director. Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Science in International Marketing (UK). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.[1]

Background and early education

Chris was born at the Kenyan coast of Mombasa in December 1968. He attended Allidina Visram High school in Mombasa in 1987. [2]

Board Membership

Chris is a member of the Brand Kenya Board.[3] He is the President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Kenya [4] and has served as a trustee of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK board in London, the first African to sit on the board.[5] He also sits in the Advisory Council of the Africa Brand Summit, a congress of leaders drawn from diverse sectors to discuss issues around branding and sustainable development.[6]

Chris Diaz is a marketing leader who has helped grow marketing and the training of marketing professionals through the Chartered Institute of Marketing. [2] He has been listed among the seven African marketing leaders to be followed on social media.[7]Chris has participated in various marketing conferences and forums in support of marketing initiatives in Africa.[8] [3]

Economy and Environmental Conservation

In his capacity as the Marketing Director at Kenya Airways, Chris Diaz has continued to support economic growth activities in Kenya and Africa as a whole.[9]He has helped market Kenya as a tourist destination [4]through partnerships with hotels[5] and opening up Africa through network expansions. [10] [6]

As the Marketing Director at Kenya Airways, Chris has helped built partnerships with conservation partners to protect wildlife and environment. This has seen Kenya Airways join hands with Born Free Foundation and Kenya Wildlife Service to boost the war against poaching.[11] [7]Together with Vimal Shah, The Chief Executive Officer of Bidco Africa, Chris has continued to support the United Nations Global Compact. [12]

In July 2014, Chris Diaz was appointed as a member of the Task Force on tourism recovery to advice the government of Kenya on the recovery of the tourism sector. [13]He has also served as an honorary warden of the Kenya Wildlife Service.[14][8]

Awards

Chris Diaz has been awarded the Head of State Commendation(HSC) by the President of Kenya.[9]

He has been honored by the Marketing Society of Kenya with the Warriors and Fellows Awards.[15]
