Tobias Schlingensiepen is a Topeka, Kansas pastor and police chaplain. He is the Democratic candidate for the United States House of Representatives in Kansas's 2nd congressional district.[1]

Background

[edit]

Schlingensiepen's involvement in the political process began when state funding cuts threatened to shut down the Kansas Neurological Institute in 2011. Schlingensiepen organized a bipartisan coalition to convince lawmakers to keep the Institute open.[2] Schlingensiepen won the 2nd District primary election on August 7, 2012, and then received the endorsement of his democratic rival, Bob Eye. Together, Eye and Schlingensiepen received 75% of the primary vote.[3]

Family Life

[edit]

Schlingensiepen and his wife, Abigail, have eight children.[1]
