Alan Wang is an American Emmy award-winning anchor and news reporter for ABC 7 News, based in San Francisco, California. Wang is renowned for his coverage of the disaster of the Columbia Space Shuttle in 2003, and his investigative work which helped police solve the murder of a 2-year-old boy.

Biography

Alan Wang, who is of Chinese descent, grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and Kingsville, Texas. During his childhood, Wang was taunted by his peers with use of ethnic slurs used towards people of Asian descent and was subjected to an environment where Asian people in the United States were viewed in a negative manner. Seeing few positive Asian male role models on television, Wang decided to take an interest in working for television. While in high school, he edited his high school newspaper and worked for the city's local newspapers. Wang studied journalism at University of Texas at Austin, and after graduation, started his career at a stint at KGNS-TV, in Laredo, Texas.

Career

Wang's news reporting career is prolific. began his career at KGNS-TV in Laredo, and later on KIII-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas. Alan Wang was relocated to California, where he worked for KFSN-TV in the Central Valley city of Fresno. His job moved him back to Texas, where he worked for Dallas' KDFW-TV, and later on WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia.
