From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World's Largest Stove was a roadside attraction build for the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago. It was destroyed in a fire in 2011.[1]

Weighing 15 tons and bearing the seal of Garland Stoves and Ranges, it was built by the Michigan Stove Company. At the World's Fair, the large stove was placed on a platform above many normal-sized stoves.[1]

After the fair, the stove spent time outdoors near Belle Isle, at the Detroit Historical Museum, and at the Michigan State Fairgrounds, where it burned in a fire in 2011.[1]

Detroit Fire Department senior chief Michael Herron suspected that a lightening strike started the flames.[1]
