User:Crouch, Swale/DAB RMs not on DAB

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Most RM discussions when there is an article at the base name and a DAB ending in "(disambiguation)" such as Dundonald I start the RM on the DAB page's talk page but in situations where there is a reason (other than disambiguation) for moving the article I start the RM on the article's talk page. See Wikipedia talk:Requested moves/Archive 32#Where to hold discussions involving multiple pages. My usual point is that the article is moved as a result of ambiguity rather than wanting to be moved, in other words moving the article is a consequence.

  • SkyeIsle of Skye and Skye (disambiguation)Skye (Talk:Isle of Skye#Requested move 5 June 2019). Everyone supported moving the island to "Isle of Skye" but some did so because they thought the disambiguation page should be at the base name. The island was moved to "Isle of Skye" with unanimous support but the 2nd move was not done, probably due to a lack of consensus or some consensus the island was primary for "Skye" alone.
  • NossIsle of Noss and Noss (disambiguation)Noss (Talk:Isle of Noss#Requested move 23 December 2018). Moved as proposed. The support appeared to be mainly over disambiguation (the 2nd supporter didn't give a reason). It was originally closed with the comment that it was not in question that "Noss" alone was the best title if it wasn't ambiguous. I questioned the closure comment (see User talk:Red Slash#Isle of Noss) that I had provided plenty of evidence that "Isle of Noss" was the best title even if "Noss" was available and the closure comment was changed to the best title not being the main issue but promary topic was.
