Koner is a Belgian Electro dance formation. Its members are Peter Bellaert aka Brian Koner (music/lyrics) and Els Mortelmans (lyrics/vocals). Didier Roosebrouck (lyrics/vocals) teams up with Els and Peter from time to time.

Peter Bellaert[edit]

Born in Maldegem, Peter developed an interest in music at an early age. He started working as a DJ in his teens and consequently released his first record “Roger Moore is buried”.

Peter signed with many labels such as Big Time (sub labels Reload and 21 Century Records), USA Import Antwerp (projects: City man, Skycat, DJ Lingo & the Skycat, Punch 1, Sensor, The Naked, Asprox 1, Acropora loop), Byte Records, Universal, EMI (DJ Gotcha) and Roadrunner Arcade, now named CNR records of Mostiko. He also managed 3 sub labels at ARS.

Peter released many songs including “The sound of the drums” by EVO, a track that was later remixed by DJ Tiësto and “Can you hear me” as DJ Millow. He is the producer of such successful commercial dance projects as Virgo (Game Mania), NRGY, and Atlantis 6 (Life is a mystery) with Els Mortelmans as lead singer. In this period, 3 of his tracks were featured in the Ultratop at the same time.

His trance project Minimalistix was a worldwide hit. "Struggle For Pleasure", "Close Cover", "Magic Fly" and "Whistling Drive" scored high positions in several international music charts. Minimalistix remixed tracks for many DJs and groups.

Peter's musical style varies from Hardcore to Jumpstyle, Techno, Underground music, Trance, all the way to Pop music and Ambient music]. He released tracks under many pseudonyms: Brian Koner, P.B.Art and Sarabeth Barber to name but a few.

Els Mortelmans[edit]

Els Mortelmans is a versatile artist. Fascinated by the world of ballet ever since she was a little girl, she started Classical ballet training at the age of 9 in Ghent. In her early twenties a friend arranged an audition for her at the Moulin Rouge, where she eventually worked for one year and a half. During that same period she also started performing as a singer.

Her singing and dancing career led her all over the world. She acted in Dutch and French theater companies, worked on Cruise ships as lead singer and acrobatic dancer and starred in numerous musicals including "Tintin – Le Temple du Soleil – Le Spectacle Musical”, "She loves me" (Musical Department of the Royal Ballet of Flanders), “The 3 Little Pigs " (Efteling), " Zo mooi zo blond" with Nicole & Hugo and the "Winter Revue" for Studio 100. She was one of the backing vocalists of Nicole & Hugo when they contended in Eurosong (Belgium) 2004.

Els modeled for L'Oréal, Nike, Repetto and Rucanor and worked as a choreographer for record companies, illusionists and “VT4 goes crazy”. She danced for Zohra and later 2 Fabiola until the dance group split in the late nineties.

Around this period Els met Peter and soon she was invited to become the singer of the successful dance project Atlantis 6.

Her voice can also be heard on the hits "House of Doom" (Nunca), "Struggle for pleasure" and "Close cover" (Minimalistix).

Els also took part in several DJ contests and played DJ sets in Belgian clubs such as the Carré in Willebroek and in La Bush.
