Mars bar traybake slices

A traybake (British English) or sheetpan dessert (American English) is a snack or dessert that is baked in a shallow rectangular tin and sliced into small rectangles for serving.[1] In American English, a bar cookie refers to a firm, often chewy, traybake. A sponge cake may also be baked and presented traybake style. Despite the name, many traybakes are no-bake recipies that involve heating ingredients in a pan or bowl, pouring and pressing into a tin, and then cooling in the fridge to set.[2] Some, like millionaires shortbread, are a mixture of the two, with the shortbread baked first in the tin and then layers of caramel and chocolate added on top, with a cooling stage between each layer.[3]
