The Center for Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies (CERES) is a master's program within the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a Title VI National Resource Center funded by the United States Department of Education. CERES was established in 1959 with a mandate to train scholars in understanding the Soviet Union. Currently it focuses on all the countries of former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe (encompassing all of the former Eastern Bloc), Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, and Mongolia.[1]

The CERES master's program covers five different disciplines - anthropology, culture, economics, government, and history. The program also emphasizes foreign language study and offers five regional languages - Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Turkish, and Persian.[2]
