Jonny Lexus is a Manchester (UK) based musician, producer and remixer with numerous credits on major and independent label releases in a number of different genres. Although probably best known as a guitarist he has featured in several musical roles and as a composer his music has been heard on TV and film all over the world. From playing on the theme tune to the hit BAFTA winning BBC show Gavin & Stacey to composing music for large advertising agencies, from touring extensively with several different artist and winding up on stage with, among others, Fatboy Slim and Billy Bragg to recording work with artists as diverse as Martha Wainwright and Elbow, Lexus' music is truly international. In 2011, with former Housemartins and Beautiful South singer Paul Heaton, as well as co-writing and and producing the music for Radio 4 comedy Shedtown starring Johnny Vegas and Kevin Eldon, he co-wrote and performed "The 8th" at Manchester International Festival, with a narrative written by Che Walker a show about the seven deadly sins which featured among others Mercury Award nominee King Creosote, Cherry Ghost, Aaron Wright and former Beautiful South singer Jacqui Abbott, and was narrated by Reg E Cathey from hit HBO series The Wire. A studio version of "The 8th" was released in the summer of 2012, coinciding with shows at The Lowry, The Barbican and Latitude Festival in which King Creosote was replaced by Gareth Paisey from Los Campesinos. In addition he (under the name El Presidente) remixed the Elbow singles "Newborn" (2002 - subtitled "Press Your Lips" for the purposes of the remix) and "Coming Second" (2002 - subtitled "Beyond Repair") - the latter only appearing on the vinyl release, the former on both CD and vinyl. Lexus and Paul Heaton are currently working on new material for a forthcoming release (to be released May 2014), also featuring Jacqui Abbott. Perhaps most bizarrely, he was once briefly in a musical outfit with Mark Radcliffe and Tony Blackburn!
