Deacon Thomas Bingham, son of Thomas Bingham and Anne Fenton, was born and baptised on 5 June 1642 at St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. He died on 16 January 1729 at the age of 86, in Windham, Connecticut, United States and is buried at Windham Centre Cemetary, Connecticut.

Thomas' father was a master cutler and was buried at Sheffield, England on 12 February 1648/9 and his youngest sister Mary was buried at Sheffield on 16 June 1651. At what time his mother remarried to William Backus (called Backhouse at Sheffield), also a master cutler at Sheffield, is not of record. But, Thomas, his mother Anne and stepfather William Backus, along with at least five Backus stepsiblings, arrived at Saybrook, Connecticut by the mid-1650s.

On 12 December 1666 at Norwich, Connecticut, Thomas Bingham married Mary Rudd of Jonathan Rudd of Saybrook, Connecticut, born at Saybrook between 1648 and 1649. She died at Windham, Connecticut on 5 August 1726. Thomas and Mary had eleven children who are all recorded at Norwich, Conn.
