Ian Tyes (born 27 November 1958 in Walthamstow, London) is standing as an Independent candidate to become Member of the European Parliament for the Jury Team for the East of England.
Background[edit]
Ian lived initially in Chingford, London and moved to Clacton-on-Sea, Essex in September 1964. He attended Holland Park Primary School and Clacton County High School, before studying Electrical Engineering at Imperial College from 1978 until 1981, graduating with an Upper Second Class Honours Degree. Whilst there, Ian briefly hosted a radio show on Imperial College Radio[1].
Ian Moved to Cambridge, Cambridgeshire in 1982 and, the following year, started his own Computer Hardware business, Tyepro Limited, [2] providing customised solutions for networking problems. Ian passed the Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from the Cambridgeshire College of Art and Technology, now part of Anglia Ruskin University, in 1985.
In 2002, Ian decided to retrain as a Solicitor and studied part-time at London Metropolitan University, passing the Common Professional Examination in 2004 and then the Legal Practice Course at Anglia Ruskin University in 2006. Following a Training Contract at Nick Levinge Solicitors in Northampton, Ian qualified as a Solicitor in October 2008 and is now working part-time at Cambridge Citizens Advice Bureau.
Political and Community activity[edit]
Ian was involved with the Arbury Community Centre and the Campkin Residents Association, before becoming a Committee Member of Cambridgeshire Older People's Enterprise (COPE). Ian is currently chairing the Cambridge branch of Families Need Fathers, providing help, advice and support for separated parents. Ian is Social policy Co-ordinator for Cambridge Citizens Advice Bureau and Parliamentary Liaison Officer for [{Cambridgeshire and District Law Society]]
Ian is standing as an Independent candidate for the Jury Team in the East of England in the European Elections on 4 June 2009.
