Nathan Ingram is an American martial arts instructor, bouncer, and actor.
Karate[edit]
Ingram began training in karate at the age of 11.[1] Ingram trained with numerous individuals including Taimak. [2] He did some work for various individuals as a bodyguard including drug lord Nicky Barnes .[1] He operated a karate school in Manhattan, New York.[3] He was called a real life Bruce Leroy, a character derived from the movie The Last Dragon whose name was derived from Bruce Lee.[1] His school is the first and one of the few black kung fu schools in Chinatown.[4] He appeared in three films, The Deadly Art of Survival (1979),Wild Style (1982) (a Charlie Ahearn film) and Boulevard Warriors (2015) [5] He has publically stated that martial arts fighter and UFC competitor Ron Van Clief did not want to fight him. [6]
Bank robbery[edit]
In 1981, Ingram utilized his karate skills to foil a bank robber in New York City,[7] at the European American Bank.[8] For this he received a medal from former New York City Mayor Ed Koch.[8]
Personal life[edit]
His son, Jacob Ingram is a 2011 Golden Gloves fighter.[9]
