BIG DANCE 2016: CELEBRATING A DECADE OF DANCE

After 10 years of expansion and development in dance across the UK, Big Dance celebrates in 2016 its last edition with events and performances all over the country. Big Dance 2016 takes over the capital again this summer presenting a range of fun and special events to inspire anyone to get dancing. Big Dance Pledge opened the 10th edition of the festival on May 20. The Pledge reached 44 countries and involved over 42,000 people. Watch the collection of Pledge day performances on Big Dance website.

• The iconic Big Dance Bus has returned for the final year of the festival. The converted Routemaster started its 22 stops tour around 14 boroughs of the capital on May 20. Find out the Big Dance Bus stops here.

Big Dance Week - The highlight of the festival runs from 2 to 10 July and opens with the Big Dance Trafalgar Square event. For 2016, Akram Khan created an original piece of choreography performed by hundreds of Londoners.

Big Dance Shorts - This partnership between Channel 4 and Big Dance aims to stimulate new and creative collaborations between dance and film professionals. For 2016, 5 new short films have been created for the Channel 4 Random Acts strand, to celebrate a decade of Big Dance with the theme: ‘Dance Decades’. Watche Big Dance Shorts here

Big Dance Opportunities - Big Dance has partnered Edwardian Hotels for a Photo Competition to give participants the chance to win a fabulous luxury night stay for two in central London. To celebrate Big Dance 10th anniversary and get you dancing, DancePicker, the new app created by Strictly Come Dancing and its US counterpart Dancing with the Stars’, is running a prize draw for 10 lucky winners to receive the dance soundtrack to their decade! 64 Million Artists provided a series of Friday Challenges in the run up to the Big Dance Week to help get people in the mood of dancing.
