Thor 2014 #1
[edit]This new issue starts where the last series God of thunder left of, with Thor still on the moon. This issue opens up in the Norwegian sea, where humans are finding huge energy reading that are taking place at the bottom of the sea, as the humans submarines quickly find that they are surrounded by mechanical sharks and were preparing to be attacked something came out of the portal. [2] The energy reading sensed turned out to be Frost Giants somehow managed to find their way to earth and they quickly started destroying everything around them including all the human bases. This leads to the first major shift in the story with a page summarizing the last issue of God of thunder. This summary explains how Odin Thor's father was in Exile and now has returned to his former kingdom, which has changed from Asgard to Asgardia.[3] With Freyja Thor's mother ruling as the All-mother of Asgardia, things have been changing. The biggest change has been that Thor the God of Thunder finds himself no longer able of wielding Mjoinir his hammer. In the last issue Nick Fury with powers he stole from the watcher whispered something that caused Thor to drop the hammer on the moon and now he's unable to lift it. Thor refuses to leave the moon and has lost all will and strength to continue after not being able to lift Mjoinir. In the second act of this issue, Odin returns to the moon where he finds his people and Thor. In his anger he is quick to talk down to Thor as he keeps saying that Thor as gotten too weak and coddled over the years and is the reason for why Mjoinir cannot be lifted.[4] This led to a dispute between Odin and the All-mother. As Thor is still too emotional to move after giving up on not being able to life his hammer, Odin in his anger tries to show Thor how to lift the hammer considering Odin created Mjoinir he should be able to life it. After a couple of pulls even Odin is unable to lift the hammer in shock of everyone, after the All-mother encourages Thor to not give up Thor decides to leave the moon and return home, but which home Asgardia or Earth? Meanwhile back on Earth as the frost giants continue their attack, we get more insight into how they found their way to Earth it appears they were led to earth by Malekith The Accursed one of Thor’s biggest enemies. Malekith threatens the people on the submarine and even kills two of them. We then find Thor racing through the water with a giant Axe in his hand charging toward Malekith. As the two foes battle, Malekith manages to cut of Thor’s arm and we find Thor drifting to the bottom of the sea. Back on the moon all the Asgardians went back to Asgardia, and we find the issue ending with a mysterious female figure whispering the words “There must always be a Thor” and lifting Mjoinir and turning into the Goddess of Thunder.[5]

History of Thor
[edit]While Thor was fighting battles and acting heroic his father Odin did not like the way in which he was acting and believed he did not know what It meant to be a true king. Which he was being groomed for and so in trying to teach his son a lesson in humanity he sends him to Earth erased of his memories and disguised as medical student after enough time has passed Thor found his hammer and transformed into the god of thunder.[8] Thor is a fictional character who lives in Asgard and is known as the God of Thunder. Thor carry’s the mojoinir which is a giant hammer as his weapon. His first appearance was in the comic journey into mystery the original Thor was created by Stan Lee, the Thor comic appearances have spanned over 50 years. On Sept of 1963 Thor was added to the Avengers in fact he was added in the very first Avengers comic, also created by Stan Lee and penciller Jack Kirby. Thor has been included in many crossover stories, one of which happened in the 1990’s known has the Hero’s Reborn crossover, this started the chain to remove a continuing Thor issue every month and mainly include Thor in special editions. In the 2001 series Thor’s father Odin passed away and that left Thor as the lord of Asgard, this arc led to Thor wanting out of Asgard and finding a home on earth, by the end of the series it showed Odin was not dead and it was planned by Loki Thor's brother to get him to leave Asgard so Loki could be king of Asgard. However in 2007 monthly issues of the Thor comic returned in their third volume, this third volume coincided with a Thor film. One of the most popular Thor series was Thor the mighty Avenger, the series follows a similar story as that of the original series with different events taking place. In the 2006 series Civil war Thor was killed and brought back when Tony stark cloned a new Thor that ended up being uncontrollable and had to be killed. This of course was the first event that led to the Oct 2014 release of the new Thor which features a female lead like stated above.[9]
