Origins[edit]

  • Two artists joined together to form Reyna Tropical, Sumohair and Fabi Reyna.[1]
  • They met at as participants of the 2016 RBMA Bass Camp, hosted at Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee
  • Sumohair,(real name Nectali Díaz) global sound beatmaker, is based out of Los Angeles, and Reyna, guitarist, is based out of Portland, Oregon[1]
  • Reyna worked with composer Glenn Branca before the creation of Reyna Tropical[1]
  • bonded over their love of psychadelic cumbia,
  • Would come together to create music
  • Reyna is lead vocals, guitar, synth. First music project where she took on the role of lead vocalist, primarily a guitarist[1]
  • Reyna is the found and CEO of She Shreds, a magazine[1]

History[edit]

  • May 2021, donated all their sales to the Museo De Las Culturas Afro Mestizas in Costa Chica, Guerrero[1]
  • The track Encerrada featuring Y La Bamba as guest vocalist. created during the pandemic and took a year to write and release [1]
  • Opened up for Bomba Estéreo[2]

  • musical influences: the compliation The Roots of Chica[1], Soukouss from Central Africa, Champeta, Bullerengue[1]
