Evan Calder Williams is an American writer. He is the author of Combined and Uneven Apocalypse, published by Zero Books in 2011, a study of presentations of apocalypse in popular culture. The book is divided into three sections: "Salvagepunk", which refers to a recognition of the apocalyptic nature of the present and taking up the leftovers of capitalism; "Plague in the Gears", a history of zombie films dispelling conventional readings of such texts and identifying in them a cultural blindness; and "Combined and Uneven Apocalypse", which offers a culmination of the prior chapters and a program for action.[1] The title is taken from Leon Trotsky's theory of combined and uneven development.[2]
