BACTERIA

Bacteria are unicellular prokaryotes with naked circular DNA. The cell wall of bacteria is made up of PEPTIDOGLYCAN Its body has a mucilage covering.

STRUCTURE OF BACTERIA

On the basis of their shape , bacteria are grouped into four categories-

• COCCUS(pl. cocci):spherical/oval/rounded
• BACILLUS:Rod shaped(most common)
• SPIRILLUM:Spiral shaped(occur singly)
• VIBRIO:Comma shaped
